Birdwatching

What a great place this is!

While some measure the passing of the year by TV programmes and the latest fashions, we measure ours by the wildlife on our park.

And being on the shores of the Solway Firth and the Caerlaverock Nature Reserve there’s plenty of it!

So once the geese start coming over in drones . . . we know winter’s on the way!

For the amateur birdwatcher Queensberry Bay can offer:

  • Huge flocks of Barnacle Geese at dusk
  • Pink-footed and Greenland White-fronted Geese
  • Whooper Swans
  • Hen Harriers
  • Curlews
  • Herons
  • Sandpipers
  • Little Egrets
  • Barn owls
  • Ducks
  • Woodpeckers
  • Swallows
  • Housemartins
  • Doves
  • Sparrows
  • Thrushes
  • Blackbirds
  • Tits and
  • Robins

And of course we have our own ducks that roam free on the park.

If we’ve missed something and you have a photo – let us know.

We’re always delighted to learn more about our local wildlife.
