1. What are your self catering units like?
They’re all superb – modern well maintained and beautifully finished - we have the annan (luxury lodge) , the eden (with it's great sea views), the criffel (with it's very large deck) and the merrick (very pet friendly).
The prices reflect this of course.
Our caravans are beautifully equipped luxury models. Some – the Annan and the Eden – are on the front row of our static park with superb sea views.
All our self catering units have superb views and outside seating, and, with the exception of the Wigwam (which is sited on a Shoreside pitch) they all have substantial decks.
2. What do your self catering hire charges include?
We’re amazed at how little some parks put into their letting units! In all our units except the Wigwam, we include bedding, towels, robes, slippers, soaps - right down to those special little touches - the washing up liquid for example, and the milk and tea and coffee sachets that we put in.
In all our units the price includes heat and light. We’re stunned to hear that some parks even charge extra for that!
You can of course have extras for special occasions – but generally our prices are all-inclusive and great value for money.

3. Do you do offer mini breaks?
Like the rest of the business world the UK holiday industry has had to adapt to the increasing pressures and changing trends of modern day life.
We simply no longer have the time or inclination to take off to the seaside for a couple of weeks - international travel is so cheap and convenient that we'd usually far rather go somewhere for a bit of sun.
What isn't so easy for some reason is getting a really good quality short break somewhere in the UK - and that's what we offer.
We offer 4 basic types of these short holiday breaks:
- 3 night weekend breaks (Friday to Monday)
- 4 night midweek breaks (Monday to Friday)
- 7 night mini breaks (Monday to Monday or Friday to Friday)
- Spa Mini Breaks (one of the above with a pampering package included)
4. Why can’t I choose the start day for my holiday?
Hotels and many holiday parks can afford to be flexible on start and end dates for breaks because they are fully staffed for cleaning. Therefore, you can normally call a hotel and book a couple of nights at any time of the week.
The turn days at Queensberry Bay are Monday and Friday.
By sticking to these days we can restrict the number of shifts that the cleaning team is needed for - and so can pass on the cost savings that that brings.
That's what makes our short breaks (see above) such good value for money!
The minibreak pattern does mean though that we can't offer different start dates to each customer - we have to stick to the Monday and Friday to keep the costs low.
5. How do your charge for self catering?
We used to charge by the unit for 4 guests and discount for couples. However, since most of our guests are in fact couples, and since this could be confusing, we now charge in all our letting units for the unit and up to 2 guests and 1 vehicle.
Extra charges apply for extra beds, guests, pets and extra vehicles and maximum numbers apply. The charges are either per night, per short break or per week.
Queensberry Bay is a truly great place for pets.
There's walks and tracks and endless miles of shoreline to explore - with smells forever more. Our residents and tourers tend to be pet lovers too - and they bring dogs and cats - even hamsters and rabbits to stay with them.
Sadly though, because of allergies and our responsibility to our other guests, the only pets we can take in our pet letting vans are dogs.
Please don't ask us about other pets - the answer will be "no" and, as pet lovers ourselves, it pains us to say that sometimes - but say it we will.
And just in case you think it doesn't really matter - if we find you either have or have had a pet in a unit that has not been registered and paid for (or rejected as not being a dog) you will be asked to leave on the spot if you're still here (with no refund due), or charged for any cancellations we have to make if you've already left.
So yes – you can bring your DOG and dogs are very welcome in the Eden, the Criffel, the Merrick and in the Wigwam. Maximum numbers and additional charges apply.
As a holiday park the longest hire period we can offer is 14 nights.
No, no and no! And no again.

There are some parks who offer smoking units. We don't.
9. What should I bring with me?
People often call us up before a stay here and ask what they need to bring with them.
So to set the record straight - here's what you'll find as standard in your unit on arrival*:
All bedding
- 1 bath towel per guest
- 1 bath sheet per guest
- 1 bath robe per adult guest
- 1 mini soap bag per adult guest
- 1 pair disposable slippers per adult guest
- 1 hand towel per WC
- 1 pet towel per pet
- Tea towel
- Oven glove
- 1 bottle washing up liquid
- A carton of semi skimmed milk
- A selection of tea and coffee sachets
- A selection of pods (if there is a coffee machine)
- A small number of dishwasher tablets (Annan only)
- A bottle of sparkling wine.
If you're staying for more than 7 nights you'll get a change of towels and bedding half way through your stay.
If you want us to we'll make up the beds again for you - but only if you're there of course. It's a sad world we live in!
So what do you need to bring?
- Some food, perhaps.
- And a sense of humour!
* These items are included in our standard prices. There is however no monetary value attached to them and they cannot be exchanged for cash or for other goods. You'd be amazed what some guests ask us!
In addition we don't operate like a hotel - these things are intended to be a welcome starter pack - if you run out of something during your stay it's up to you to replace it! All these items are available for sale (NOT FREE!!) in our shop.
10. Why do you charge for children?
Children under 4 are free, so long as they don't need a bed made up.
Our charges are based on the costs we've incurred - and if anyone wants an extra bed that costs money.
If however you have a baby that sleeps in a basket or cot then there is no charge.

Finally, so that our standards stay as high as possible, we’re constantly upgrading our self catering fleet with new models - see which units are currently for sale >>
